BY CAR

Easy access by car via the M3 – come off onto the A316, take the first exit at St Margaret’s roundabout onto the A3004 and follow the road until you cross Richmond Bridge. Turn left onto Hill Street and the Old Town Hall is on your left on Whittaker Avenue.

Parking available nearby at Friar’s Lane Car Park, Richmond Riverside Car Park and Paradise Road Car Park.
Please note that all of these car parks do have charges.

Look out for directional signposts from Richmond Station, the Green, and the Riverside. The museum is on the top floor of the Old Town Hall – take the lift from the lobby.


VENUE ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION

The museum is on the second floor of the Old Town Hall and is fully accessible for visitors with access requirements.

The Old Town Hall has an entrance for wheelchair users at the back of the Old Town Hall on Whittaker Avenue. Please use the phone there by the door to connect you to the Old Town Hall reference library staff who will assist you in using the lift to the ground floor. From there you can use the lift in the lobby to go to the Second Floor where you will find the museum.

We welcome visitors with disabilities; we also welcome assistance dogs. We are committed to developing and promoting inclusive access to the museum. We suggest that you telephone before a visit for specific access information which you may require.

Whenever possible, please telephone in advance. Use the disabled entrance described above. Richmond Tourist Information Centre (ground floor at the riverside end of the building) provides assistance and responds to the assistance bell. Access to the museum (2nd floor) is by lift from the main hall. The museum is on one level, there are no steps or ramps.

There is a wheelchair accessible toilet by the disabled entrance and on the first floor of the Old Town Hall

There are seats in the centre of each of the main areas. Chairs are readily available on request.

Regular workshops for schools, families and adults are held in our temporary exhibition area, during which times it may be too busy to view the current exhibition. Please contact us in advance if you would like to know what activities are planned at the Museum for the day of your visit.
